New fabric, old patterns

I think I said at the beginning of the year that I was not going to buy fabric this year. Well, I did buy a few new pieces today. I'm planning on making some summer dresses and needed some light, breezy fabric. So I went to JoAnns and found a few that I really liked. All are cotton or cotton blends.

I went through some old patterns that had been given to me by my mother-in-law. I found a few that I might like to try, although they all require alterations (to make them larger). These were before the days of multi size patterns. But I like the long skirt of the pattern in the middle (it's for knits). And I think the yellow dress is an easy summer dress to make and wear.

It's been a while...

Well, it's been a while since I last posted. I wasn't intending for it to be so long, but sometimes other things take a priority. Anyway, here are two completed projects. I finished the jeans I was making for my daughter. I used Vogue 8774 (View A). I had made this pattern in white for her before, but she wanted these to be "really skinny". So I tapered these down the leg from about the knee down. I also made a smaller size (these are a 12) and she likes the fit much better. I made them long so she can wear them with heels if she chooses.

The other project I completed last weekend was an outdoor project. I made a cushion for a bench my husband bought for the deck. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish.

The next project will be for myself. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what it will be. I really would like to make a couple of dresses and some skirts. I'll see how things go. We are in the beginning stages of a kitchen remodel so everything that was in the kitchen is now in the living room and dining room. Luckily, I still have my sewing room! :)
